COVID-19 Readiness Policy

(Effective March 16, 2020)

The World is not going to end, but Covid-19 is the deadliest threat the world has seen in 100 years, and the safety of our offices and our staff is a priority over the next 2-3 months. Africa is only starting to see the beginning of its emergence, and we must be vigilant in case there is a similar transmission rate on the continent. Like you, we're monitoring the latest news about the coronavirus. That's why we're doing all we can.

As African governments begin to implement national lockdown procedures of their own it is highly important Managers and Group leaders act efficiently to coordinate and implement local remote and split working schedules to reduce overall risks associated. To tackle the current situation we need to shift to 100% online learning strategies. We urge our staff and students to cooperate with us and make this possible.

Things to do:

  • Make sure we have hand sanitizers at the entrances to all our businesses.
  • No mass congregating in public places.
  • Limit face to face interactions to phone/email/video conferencing.
  • Proactively isolate, give extended leave and self-quarantine those who are reporting mild colds, cough, sore throat, fever or temperature.

Local Quarantine Regulations:

Quarantine regulations issued by your local authority must be adhered to, in case there are none, please start to implement a self-quarantine policy.

Virtual Communication:

Wherever possible, virtual means of collaboration (e.g. Skype meetings, Google Meet or Zoom) must be used instead of face-to-face meetings. If physical meetings are necessary and cannot be postponed (e.g. with external partners), the number of participants should be limited as much as possible and a minimum distance of about 1 meter should be ensured. Shaking hands, hugs as a greeting are not allowed.

Sick Leave Policies:

Center Heads may be compelled to not require sick staff to report with a medical certificate, please base your policy on your local conditions, and please make sure your sick leave policies are up to date so that employees with mild colds, cough, sore throat, and fever or temperature conditions are proactively isolated.
