NIIT Kumasi organized its 5th Graduation Ceremony on 16th May 2009 at the majestic Great Hall of KNUST in Kumasi. The events witnessed an audience of over 1,200 students and guests.
Chairing the event, Rector for Kumasi Polytechnic, Dr. Benjamin Eric Kwesi Prah, lauded the effort made by NIIT in empowering more than 30,000 students in the last few years with latest ICT technologies. He advised the graduating students to use their knowledge for development of Ghana.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest for the event, ASAMPONGHENE NANA OHENEBA ASAMPONG BOAKYE III, congratulated NIIT Kumasi for graduating 126 students this year. Speaking on the occasion, Professor Steve Sobotie, Principal, College of Technical Education (UEW), Kumasi, warned the students not to involve themselves into wrongful cyber activities like 'SAKAWA' which may spoil their achievement.
Stressing on the need of studying at the accredited institution only, Mr. Kapil Gupta , Managing Director NIIT Ghana, warned students and parents to check for proper accreditation for courses and institutions from the National Accreditation Board website before enrolling themselves, as lots of non-accredited institutions are offering cheaper programs, without having any value for their certificates.
Other dignitaries present at the occasion were, Mr. E.Y. Kwarteng, Chief Director, Regional Coordinating Council, Ashanti Region, Mr. Edward Adams, Deputy Director of Education, GES, Ashanti Region, Prof. F. Momade, Provost - College of Engineering, KNUST and Mr. Pankaj Maheshwari, General Manager - NIIT Ghana. Mr. Vivek Verma, Marketing Head NIIT Ghana and Centre Head NIIT Kumasi congratulated all graduating students and thanked the invited guests for making this event a huge success.
