NIIT Ghana organized its 2011 Annual Graduation Ceremony for Ring Road, Achimota and Tema Campuses on September 23, 2011.
Organized by i2000 Ghana, International business partner of NIIT - the global talent development corporation with 3 decades of excellence in IT Education and among the top 20 training companies in the entire world, this year’s event was organized under the theme of “A Decade of Educational Excellence in Ghana”. NIIT graduated students in different fields like software engineering, networking, Oracle, Cisco, Business skills and multimedia. The graduands were each presented with a special Gold medal another first by NIIT.
NIIT was incorporated in Ghana in November, 1999 with an objective of addressing the IT needs of Ghana. To be the best in IT Training and Software Development, i2000 Limited tied up with NIIT Limited to offer NIIT benchmarked IT Education and Training in Ghana. The first center was launched in May, 2000 and within a year of its operation, NIIT Ghana achieved the status of the largest IT Training School in Ghana. The Corporate Sector, including most of the major banks, software developers and IT training companies have also patronized us from the beginning. Today NIIT has presence across Ghana with its seven (7) state-of-art centers, with a capacity of training more than 10,000 students yearly on ground-breaking technologies in ICT bridging the Digital Divide. The most recent NIIT centre was inaugurated in Tamale by H.E. Vice President of Ghana Hon. John Dramani Mahama, to address the demands of the Northern Region.
Speaking at the occasion Mr. Vivek Verma, Business Head NIIT Ghana urged all the graduating students to prepare themselves for the opportunities coming in their way due to rapid development of the Ghanaian economy. As Ghana gears up as a developing middle-income country, vying for a slice of the regional and global market, the need for skilled and well-trained personnel can never be over-emphasized. Capacity building among youth is the key to socio-economic independence and capable manpower will perform a real service for the country. Without it, the nation cannot move forward and its development agenda will remain a mere plan on paper.
He informed that NIIT Ghana has been awarded the Best Result Oriented ICT School for year 2010 & 2011, an achievement unmatched by others. NIIT has become a household name in Ghana, thanks to the high standards maintained by its students, staff and management. NIIT Ghana has also been awarded the Best ICT School award in Ashanti Region for 2011. It has been recipient of this award since last 6 years.
Delivering the keynote Address, Chief Guest, Vice President - Ghana Telecom University College, Dr. Robert Baffour, congratulated the students for their achievements and charged them to use their education for the development of Ghana and their own professional success. He commended NIIT for training more than 50,000 students since 1999.
Addressing the event, the Director General – National Information Technology Agency (MoC), Mr. William Tevie, informed all the graduating students about the new initiative by Government to bring all the ICT stakeholders including ICT professionals under one roof to gain the maximum benefit from vast investment in the ICT industry in Ghana. He congratulated students for graduating from NIIT and invited them to be a part of this initiative.
The Ceremony ended with group pictures, handshakes, thanksgiving and dinner packs for all participants.
