NIIT Ghana organized its 2010 Annual Graduation Ceremony for Ring Road, Achimota and Tema Campuses on June 10 2010.  

Organized by i2000 Ghana, International business partner of NIIT - the  global talent development corporation with 3 decades of excellence in IT Education and among the top 20 training companies in the entire world, this year’s event was organized under the theme of “10 years of Quality Computer Education in Ghana”.  NIIT graduated a total of 140 students this year in different fields like software engineering, networking, film Animation, Oracle, Business skills and multimedia.

The graduands were each presented with a special Tenth anniversary Gold medal, another first by NIIT. Earlier this year, NIIT created history by holding the first-ever Technology Partner conclave at National theatre, which brought industry leaders – Microsoft, CISCO, Oracle, sun and compTIA under one roof for the first time in Ghana.

Information Communication Technology (ICT) has become an essential tool for the economic growth and advancement of many countries. NIIT Ghana has been at the fore front of ICT education in the country for many years. NIIT has shown an un-wavering commitment in supporting the strategic national human resource development and capacity building plan through ICT training.  This plan as defined in the Ghana Poverty Reduction Strategy is intended to drive the national development agenda, facilitate poverty reduction and enhance wealth creation.

Speaking at the occasion Mr. Kapil Gupta, MD NIIT Ghana unveiled his plan of extending their state-of-art ICT training campus to the Northern Region (Tamale) to facilitate the studying of ICT in the North. He shared his plans to take the benchmark ICT education to neighbouring West African countries also. He was glad to note that many of NIIT’s students are occupying senior positions in ICT departments in government and Private sector in Ghana and abroad.. He informed that NIIT Ghana has sealed its Affiliation with University of Education, Winneba to offer Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Technology (BSc IT) in Accra and Kumasi which was welcomed by a rapturous crowd. He also announced that NIIT Ghana is taking a contingent of Six people to watch FIFA 2010 South Africa on full sponsorship basis, which comprises two students and two staff members among others.

Delivering the keynote Address, Guest of Honour, Hon Deputy Minister of Communication, Mr. Gideon Quarcoo congratulated the students for their achievements and charged them to use their education for their professional success. He also congratulated the Management of NIIT Ghana on their 10th Anniversary and tasked its management to continue to strive for higher goals.

The Guest speaker for the ceremony, Mr. Osei Darkwa, President – GTUC commended NIIT Ghana and lauded its efforts to prepare Ghanaians for the opportunities and infinite possibilities that lay ahead.  He outlines the role of Information Technology in the world today and its special relevance in Ghana.

Addressing the event, the Dean – Faculty of Science , UEW, Mr. Amedeker informed that NIIT Ghana which is fully  accredited by local and international bodies has received another landmark with the AFFILIATION of University of Education and wished the two institutions all the best. He also warned students to stay away from temptations of illegal business of 'Sakawa' and show professional ethics of the highest standards.

The Ceremony ended with group pictures, handshakes, thanksgiving and dinner packs for all participants.
