Seventy Four STUDENTS have successfully graduated from NIIT Accra in diverse fields like software Engineering, networking, Film animation, Integrated Program in IT and Business Skills. The batch of graduands included students who obtained free scholarships worth USD 50,000 in the field of E-commerce Specialist and Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCSD) under NIIT’s 50 @ 50 program to co-incide with Ghana’s 50th Anniversary.
In a speech, Guest of Honour, Indian High Commissioner, H.E. Mrs. Ruchi Ghanshyam praised NIIT for its role in ICT and providing excellent IT education to the Ghanaians. She urged the students to be role model for others to follow and thanked NIIT for its efforts in bringing the best out of the students. He regarded NIIT as one the best IT education providers in the world and praised NIIT for its contribution to the development of the society.
The Chairman of the Graduation Ceremony, Mr. Richard Adjei, Senior Assistant Secretary, National Accreditation Board, representing the Executive Secretary, Mr. Kwame Dattey, complimented NIIT for its Accreditation efforts which go a long way back. He stressed the need for students to check with the Board before registering with any tertiary Institution before paying any fees whether the Insitution is accredited or not or else prepare to embrace themselves for a rude awakening. He emphasised that NIIT centres have been accredited to run Tertiary programmes. He also commended NIIT for getting its diplomas and Degrees accredited, a feat matched by a very few. He exhorted more insitutions to come forward and follow NIIT's example. He noted that Ghana is witnessing an upsurge in the number of private institutions which augur well for the nation.
The Special Guest, Rev. Emmanuel Dadebo, ICT co-ordinator, Ministry of Education, Science and Sports emphasized the fact that the graduands could now use NIIT’s University alliance to gain the coveted BSc Degree from UK right here in Ghana. NIIT has successfully partnered with various universities in countries like UK, USA, Australia, New Zealand to name a few, to help those who wish to travel abroad. He highlighted the various efforts made by his Ministry to make ICT mandatory at the grass roots level.
Mr. Kapil Gupta, Managing Director - NIIT Ghana emphasized the need for Ghanaians to put their knowledge for the best use of the society and provide their services for the betterment of Ghana. He praised the students and the teachers for their hard work.
He explained that NIIT trains over 5,000 students a year in Ghana at its five centres at Ring Road, Achimota, Kumasi, Takoradi and Tema. He emphasised that NIIT is the most decorated and accredited Institution which makes it the best in the business. NIIT is also ISO 9001 and SEI-CMM Level 5 certified, a feat matched by a rare few in the world. He also highlighted the fact that NIIT’s offerings are designed by keeping in mind the student perspective, the latest technologies worldwide and the requirements of the industry. With over 5,000 centres in 40 countries globally, NIIT is the true world leader, he said.
